2008 Cody Cubs Record 26-33 Regular Season 24-29, Post-season: 2-4, Overall 26-33

By Month: May: 1-8, June: 9-11, July: 14-10 (Regular Season)
Welch, Rivera, Tuten Named All-State Jacob Welch, Caleb Rivera, and Jeremy Tuten were named to the 2008 Wyoming Legion A All-State Team. Players are voted to the team by the coaches from around the state.
Other players named to the team from the West District include Charlie Wild, Charlie Keegan, and Luke Moulder from District Champion Jackson, Trevor Wilson and Matt Raymond from State Runner-Up Riverton, and Grant Geiser, Gianlucca Giarrizzo, and Scotty Jameson from Powell.
From the East District, two-time State Champion Wheatland had seven players named to the team, Cheyenne and Douglas had two each, and Gillette had one.
8/7 Cubs` Season Ends in Marathon Game Despite a Herculean effort from Don Brockus, the Cody Cubs season ended today with a 4-2 loss in 12 innings to Riverton. Brockus pitched the entire game for the Cubs, allowing only 8 hits and 4 walks while striking out 14 Raiders. He also had a pair of singles at the plate, but it wasn`t enough. Caleb Rivera and Caleb Van Wagoner contributed doubles, but as a team, the Cubs managed only six hits, and couldn`t overcome injuries during the District Tournament to leadoff hitter Jacob Welch and cleanup hitter Jake Howard. Welch suffered knee ligament damage in the Cubs first game (the 10-7 win over Jackson) and Howard severely sprained an ankle in the Cubs third game (the 5-7 loss to Jackson). After both were out, the team dropped its final four games.
For the season, however, 2008 was a huge improvement over 2007, and the future looks even brighter. After going 11-39 in 2007, the Cubs opened the 2008 season at 5-16, then got hot and improved to 19-23 before finishing at 26-33. For 2009, all current players are eligible to return, and there is a strong group of players potentially coming up from the Babe Ruth ranks.
UPDATE: Riverton went on to beat Powell, Cheyenne, and Douglas, before fallling to Wheatland in a repeat of last year`s championship.
